Step 1 · Current stage - Educational classification only. This is not an FCA suitability rating or regulated advice. Step 2 · Top priorities Priorities are educational prompts derived from your MOT answers, not instructions to buy or sell anything. Step 3 · Illustrative monthly planner Choose a monthly amount to see illustrative projections. These are teaching examples only, not forecasts of your returns. Example table below uses £100 a month until you pick another amount. Figures update when you tap an amount. Illustrative estimates only. Assumes fixed monthly contributions and constant annual growth with no fees, tax or inflation. Real markets fluctuate. Past performance is not a reliable guide to future results. These figures are teaching examples, not forecasts, and are not a financial promotion of any product. Not financial advice. Step 4 · Investment types to understand Instead of “buy this”, explore what different asset types are generally used for. Category education only. No individual securities or branded funds are recommended here. Step 5 · Platform comparison This comparison is provided for educational purposes only. It is not a recommendation, not personalised advice, and not a financial promotion for any platform or product. Naming a firm does not mean it is suitable for you. Fees and features change. Investments can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invest.

The UK Investment MOT is a free educational portfolio health check from UK Markets Today. It helps UK adults understand investing habits, diversification, tax wrappers and behaviour in under three minutes, then produces an Investment Score and a personalised educational roadmap. It does not provide regulated financial advice and never recommends specific stocks, ETFs or financial products.
Who it helps: beginners through to experienced UK investors who want a private, no-login check-in on foundations (emergency fund and debt), pensions and Stocks & Shares ISAs, risk temperament, crash behaviour, diversification, cash allocation and crypto exposure.
What questions it answers: How roadworthy do my investing habits look? Where are the biggest educational gaps? What should I focus on in the next 30 days, 6 months and 12 months, without being sold a product?
Each answer contributes numerical signals (for example consistency, tax-wrapper usage, diversification and risk alignment) plus qualitative flags (for example weak emergency fund or high concentration). Dimension scores are averages of relevant signals, lightly adjusted by flags, then combined into a weighted Investment Score:
Investor profiles (Beginner, Conservative, Balanced, Growth, Advanced, Retirement Focused) are rule-based classifications used to frame educational copy, not regulated risk categories under FCA suitability rules.
Recommendations are generated by matching flags and score gaps to educational guidance templates (for example emergency fund before higher risk, or capturing pension match). The engine never names individual securities or branded funds.
Limitations: scores are illustrative. They do not know your exact balances, charges, tax band, employment status or full risk capacity. They cannot replace a fact-find by a regulated adviser.
