Make Money in the UK
Every way to find money and earn money on this page is checked by hand: the real pay, the real payout method, and the honest catch. If a platform charges you to join, it is never listed.
Start here: the Found Money Finder (new, live today)
Before you earn a penny, check the money already sitting unclaimed. Our free Found Money Finder asks 7 questions and adds up your personal total across bank switch bonuses of £175 to £300, savings earning 0% and cashback you are not collecting, with the unclaimed money and benefits checks on your fix list. It takes about 2 minutes, your answers stay in your browser, and the national picture is in the Found Money Index: at least £36 billion a year.
Most “make money online” pages are written to make money for the writer, not for you. This page works the other way round. Every route listed here was checked on 2 October 2026: what it pays, how you actually receive the money, and what the catch is. If a platform asks you to pay to join, it is not on this page and it never will be.
TL;DR, the honest version
Start with found money: switching your bank account pays up to £300, and cashback sites return an average of about £300 a year on spending you already do. For earning, the best-paying beginner route is paid research: Prolific, User Interviews and Respondent pay roughly £6.50 to £150 an hour of your time depending on the study. Small-task sites pay less, around £3 to £10 an hour. Nothing here replaces a job, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. Stacked together, realistically, a careful beginner can find £500 to £1,500 in their first year.

Our safety promise
Three rules protect you on every page we publish:
- Never pay to earn. A real opportunity never charges a joining fee, a training fee or a release fee for your own money.
- Never hand over banking logins. Legit platforms pay you through PayPal, Payoneer or bank transfer. They never need your password.
- Slow money is real money. If something promises £500 a day for no skill and no effort, it is a trap, every time.

Found money first, then the checked earning routes, then the full guides.
Found money (do this first)
Found money is money that is already yours in everything but name. It needs no skill and no spare hours, so it comes first.
Get paid to switch your bank account
Banks pay new customers up to £300 to move their current account, and the switching service moves your payments for you. Our bank switch offers page lists every live offer with plain-English eligibility checks, updated weekly.
Stop leaving your savings at 0%
Around £306 billion sits in UK accounts paying no interest at all. Moving your savings to a competitive account, and using your tax-free ISA allowance, is found money every single month. Start with our best savings accounts guide and our best cash ISA rates comparison.
Claim what you are owed
Billions of pounds in benefits, grants and support go unclaimed each year, including help with energy bills and council tax. Browse our government funding guides, and check grants and winter help before you struggle in silence.
Cashback on spending you already do
Cashback sites receive commission from shops and share it with you. TopCashback says its average member earns about £300 a year; Quidco puts its active member average at £280, and it has paid out over £500 million since it launched. Both are free. The catch is simple: you only earn when you spend or switch, so use them for planned purchases, never as an excuse to buy.
Earn money (checked routes)
These platforms pay for your time, opinions and skills. Pay figures are the typical reported ranges we found when checking each platform on 2 October 2026. None of them is guaranteed income: work comes and goes, and your profile decides a lot.
| Platform | What you do | Realistic pay | How you get paid | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Prolific | Take part in university and company research studies | Platform minimum £6 an hour, £9 an hour is the recommended rate, and many studies pay more | PayPal | There can be a waiting list, and studies appear and fill fast |
| User Interviews | Interviews and focus groups about products and habits | Often $50 to $150 per session hour; the company reports $57 million paid to participants | Gift cards and prepaid cards via their payment partners | Only about 1 in 6 applications is accepted |
| Respondent | Research interviews, mostly video calls | Listings commonly $50 to $250 per study | Paid after the session, around 7 to 10 business days, minus a 5% fulfilment fee | Screening questions are unpaid and selection is competitive |
| UserTesting | Record yourself using websites and apps, thinking aloud | $4 for a 5 minute test, $10 for a 20 minute test, $30 to $120 for live interviews | PayPal, 14 days after each test | You must pass a practice test, and test flow depends on your profile |
| uTest | Find and report bugs in apps and websites | Roughly $1 to $19 per approved bug, plus set fees per test cycle | PayPal or Payoneer, twice a month | Complete the free uTest Academy first to get rated and picked |
| Clickworker | Small online tasks: text, data, photo checks, AI training tasks | Roughly $3 to $10 an hour; better rates with UHRS task access | Weekly by PayPal, Payoneer or bank transfer above a small minimum | Work can dry up, and qualification tests are unpaid |
| Qmee | Short surveys on your phone or computer | Surveys from 10p to £1+; casual users report £5 to £15 a month | PayPal with no minimum cashout | Small money, and some surveys screen you out part way |
| Google Opinion Rewards | Answer very short surveys (15 to 30 seconds) | 10p to 80p per survey | Google Play credit on Android; PayPal on iPhone from £2 | Tiny amounts, and surveys are occasional |
Where to start, depending on your situation
- You have a phone and spare minutes: Qmee and Google Opinion Rewards. Small, but your first payout can land today, and that first payout matters.
- You can talk through your thinking: UserTesting and Prolific pay the best beginner rates for opinions.
- You have work experience or a profession: Respondent and User Interviews pay serious money for the right profile, because companies want specific people.
- You are patient and detail-minded: Clickworker and uTest reward people who pass the free training and keep quality high.

What we will never list
- Anything that asks for a joining fee, a course fee or a deposit before you can earn.
- Crypto doubling schemes, betting systems and “trading bots”.
- Apps that pay in points designed to never quite reach the payout threshold without telling you.
- Pyramid style referral schemes where the product is recruiting, not work.

How we check these routes
For every platform we confirm four things before listing: it is free to join, real people report being paid, the payout method is a normal one (PayPal, Payoneer or bank transfer), and the pay claims survive contact with independent reviews. We recheck this page regularly. Routes checked: 2 October 2026.
FAQs
Can you really make money from these sites?
Yes, but keep your expectations honest. The testing and research platforms pay real money for real work, usually in the £5 to £15 an hour range when work is available. Surveys pay much less. Think of this as meaningful extra money, not a wage.
Which one pays the fastest?
Qmee has no minimum cashout to PayPal, so a first small payout can be almost immediate. UserTesting pays 14 days after each completed test. A bank switch bonus is the biggest single payment, but it takes a few weeks and has eligibility rules.
Do I pay tax on this money?
In the UK you can earn up to £1,000 a year from casual side income under the trading allowance without reporting it. Above that, register for Self Assessment and declare it. Cashback on your own shopping is not taxable income.
Why do companies pay for this?
Because your opinion and your time genuinely help them. Companies pay for research before launching products, shops pay commission for customers, and banks pay to win your account. You are not being given charity; you are being paid for something of value.
Is my personal data safe on these platforms?
Stick to the platforms listed here, use a separate email address for signups, and never share banking passwords or pay for “verification”. Read each platform’s privacy policy before your first study or task.
