TL;DR: Revolut has launched unsecured personal loans in the UK, Reuters reported on 26 October 2026. Revolut, the app used by 14 million customers in Britain, is moving beyond everyday spending into lending. Its UK chief executive, Francesca Carlesi, told Reuters the aim is to become “effectively the primary bank of choice for everybody in the UK”. The loans put Revolut up against high street lenders including NatWest, Lloyds, Barclays, Santander UK and HSBC. (Reuters, 26 October 2026)
How much can you borrow, and what does it cost?
| Type | Unsecured personal loan |
| Amount | £2,000 to £25,000 |
| Rate | 6.9% to 29.3%, personalised |
| Who can apply first | A selected group of customers |
| Wider rollout | All 14 million UK customers, over the coming months |
The 6.9% figure is the bottom of the range, not a rate everyone gets. Your actual rate depends on your credit file, your income, and the amount and term you choose.
What £10,000 costs at each end of the range
As an illustration, borrowing £10,000 over 3 years works out roughly as follows (monthly payments from the standard repayment formula, annual rate divided by 12; your real quote will differ by term and credit file):
- At 6.9%: about £308 a month, £11,099 in total, about £1,099 in interest.
- At 29.3%: about £421 a month, £15,145 in total, about £5,145 in interest.
The gap is the point: the same £10,000 costs about £4,046 more in interest at the top of the range than at the bottom. That is why the rate you are personally offered matters more than the headline range.
Who can get one first?
Only a selected group of customers at launch. Revolut says it will expand to its 14 million UK customers over the coming months, and it is starting cautiously, with no target set for total UK lending. If you are not in the first group, there is nothing to apply for yet: check the Revolut app for availability rather than assuming you can borrow today.
What is coming next, and what is not live yet
Carlesi also told Reuters a credit card is coming in the near future and that Revolut eventually plans to enter the mortgage market. Neither is launched yet, so do not confuse them with today’s loan launch.
What to check before you borrow
- Check your credit file first: the rate you are offered follows your file. See how to check your credit score for free and how to view your credit score without hurting it.
- Work out the monthly payment at the rate you are actually offered, not the 6.9% floor.
- An unsecured loan needs no asset as security, but missed payments still damage your credit file and make future borrowing dearer. If your file needs work first, see how to increase your credit rating.
Frequently asked questions
Can I apply for a Revolut personal loan today? Only if you are in the selected first group. Otherwise you wait for the wider rollout over the coming months.
Will I get 6.9%? Not necessarily. 6.9% to 29.3% is the full personalised range, and your rate depends on your credit file.
When can every UK customer apply? Revolut says over the coming months, but it has not given a date.
Does Revolut offer mortgages yet? No. Mortgages are a future plan, not a live product.
This is information only, not financial advice. Check Revolut’s own terms before applying, and only borrow what you can comfortably repay.
